Withdrawn / Richardson on the “War on Terror” & Iraq
Words: Richardson believes that reconciliation and reconstruction cannot occur in Iraq until the US withdraws - though he feels the best solution to Iraq is a federated partition - and that Congress should de-fund the war effort. He also advocates sanctions against Iran. “We must open an ideological front in the war against Jihadism. There is a civil war within Islam between extremists and moderates - and we need to stop helping our enemies in that civil war.”
Actions: Richardson created a Cabinet-level position in the New Mexico state government for a National Security Director and campaigned for other states to do the same.
