Ron PaulWords: Paul supports free trade, but opposes free trade agreements and proposes unilateral trade through the abolition of trade barriers at home. He believes we should end economic protectionism and feels there should be no restrictions on import/export, so long as our sovereignty is not threatened. He also opposes the Fast Track powers granted to the president and advocates withdrawal from the WTO.

Actions: Paul voted AGAINST Fast Track authority for trade agreements (1997), FOR withdrawal from the WTO (2000), AGAINST implementing free trade agreements with Chile (2003) and Singapore (2003), AGAINST the US-Australia Free Trade Agreement (2004), and AGAINST CAFTA (2005). The CATO Institute Center for Trade Policy Studies has given Paul a rating of 76%.
