Withdrawn / Paul on Energy Policy
Words: Paul believes that Big Oil profits are okay, but the Big Oil subsidies are not. He supports repealing the federal gas tax and the elimination of most federal agencies, including the Department of Energy. He also feels that nuclear energy should be considered as an alternative to fossil fuels.
Actions: Paul voted AGAINST implementing the Kyoto Protocol (2000), AGAINST prohibiting oil drilling in ANWR (2001), AGAINST implementing the Bush administration’s energy policy (2003), FOR authorizing construction of new oil refineries (2006), AGAINST maintaining the moratorium on offshore oil drilling (2006), AGAINST removing oil and gas exploration subsidies (2007), and AGAINST criminalizing oil cartels like OPEC (2007).
UPDATE: Here’s a clip on Rep. Ron Paul’s clean energy superprogram.
