Withdrawn / Paul on Crime & Punishment
Words: Paul opposes “hate crime” legislation. He has recently changed his position on the death penalty due to the number of mistakes and because “it has been issued unjustly. If you’re rich, you get away with it; if you’re poor and you’re from the inner city, you’re more likely to be prosecuted and convicted.”
Actions: Paul voted AGAINST more prosecution and sentencing for juvenile crime (1999) and FOR funding alternative sentencing rather than building more prisons (2000). CURE has given him a rating of 60%.
