McCain on the Environment

John McCainWords: McCain believes in the preservation of our natural resources and the development of our national Parks. In terms of pollutants, he feels we should focus on results, not regulation. “America’s economic and environmental interests are not mutually exclusive, but rather inextricably linked. Our economic prospects depend greatly upon the sustainable use of ample and unspoiled natural resources.”

Actions: McCain voted FOR requiring EPA risk assessments (1994), AGAINST continuing desert protection in California (1994), AGAINST limiting road-building in National Forests (1997), FOR transportation demo projects (1998), FOR Gale Norton as Secretary of Interior (2001). And FOR including oil and gas smokestacks in mercury regulations (2005). The League of Conservation Voters has given him a rating of 29%.

UPDATE: Here critics say Sen. John McCain once again shows that he is not fit to be the conservative candidate: “John McCain: A Dim Bulb on Global Warming”
