Words: Huckabee believes that we need to gut our “incredibly complex and arcane tax code” and is a vocal supporter of the FairTax, which eliminates all taxes on productivity, savings, and investments, but would require a sales tax set at 34% of retail prices.

Actions: Huckabee was the first governor in Arkansas history to lower taxes. He eliminated the “marriage penalty” and capital gains on home sales.

Update: Gov. Huckabee’s earlier statements on this issue still reflect his views. No controversies have arisen with regard to his positions.
