Withdrawn / Clinton on Welfare & Poverty

Hillary ClintonWords: Clinton feels we should establish a National Affordable Housing trust fund and that there should be tax credits to promote home ownership in distressed areas. She has argued for equal access to capital and jobs. She also advocates fully funding AmeriCorps and believes that we should not criminalize the homeless.

Actions: No record.

UPDATE: Sen. Clinton drew loud applause when she addressed several hundred progressive religious activists who gathered on the top floor of the Hart Senate office building after a day of lobbying Congress to “make poverty history”.

Clinton reiterated her call for an increase to the minimum wage and called on Congress to stop raisinig their own pay while the minimum wage remains $5.15 an hour (which is the same it has been since 1997).
