Withdrawn / Kucinich on the “War on Terror” & Iraq
Words: Kucinich believes that the invasion of Iraq and US aggression toward Iran are predicated on oil interests and that our military should be used for peace-keeping. He also feels that changes in American policy and solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the key to Middle Eastern stability and the best way to address terrorism. “I believe that the path to peace runs right through Jerusalem, and it’s time a president had the ability to approach things in the Middle East with an even hand.”
Actions: Kucinich voted FOR disallowing the invasion of Kosovo (1999), AGAINST authorizing the use of force in Iraq (2002), AGAINST declaring Iraq part of the “War on Terror” with no exit date (2006), and FOR starting to redeploy US troops out of Iraq within 90 days (2007). The Center for Security Policy has given Kucinich a rating of 11%.
